RESULTS - Stableford Competition at Subrapruek Golf Course on Saturday 14 June 2025

A lovely day for golf at Subhapruek yesterday. The skies were overcast, there was a cooling breeze and even the recent rains had been beneficial by easing the amount of sand on the greens. Peter Frank certainly enjoyed his round as he smashed his way to a superb score of 41 points and finished as overall event winner, 3 clear of 2nd place. Congratulations Peter!

Peter Frank (R) receives his trophy and prizes from Club Secretary Rich White (L)

The flights were won by Mark Adderley (Flight A - 36 points), Phil Mulligan (B - 38 points) and Suwat Bunrod (C - 35 points) - well done!

Full results are on True Handicap (look in the Old Events section for individual scores and the table) and flight winners, runners-up and technical prize winners are shown in the table below:

We had the first trial of a new team game too. The format is that each playing group is a team and the best two Stableford scores on each hole are added up to calculate the team's total score (plus on holes 9 and 18, every player in the team's score counts adding some jeopardy). It was fun and will be tweaked in terms of making the calculations easier (less manual for players and the committee) and what the prizes are (it was money yesterday but will likely be golf balls in the future). We did uncover that some bad habits have sneaked in too with score cards - odd scoring notations, letting caddies do scoring, forgetting to swap scorecards as well as old favourites such as writing not being readable, scorecards being so wet that they disintegrate and some knowledge being lacking in how to score Stableford points. Please do better for your fellow players and the organisers. If in doubt of what to do, just ask!

The first winners were the 3 ball group of Steven Brader, Krishna Tiwary and Terry Weir who scored 94 points to win from the group of Mark Adderley, Aurelien Mery, Koro Nuri and Geoff Wright who scored 93 points. Good play!

Terry Weir (L), Steven Brader (R) and Krishna Tiwary (not pictured) won the inaugural event team game
2nd place in the team game were (Left to Right), Geoff Wright, Koro Nuri, Aurlien Mery (in his returning game after becoming a father) and Mark Adderley

Our next game is the annaul match versus the Wanderers at Flora Ville on Saturday 21 June. The teams will be 8 pairs per side and enough players are registered. If you want to take your chance of getting a game please do register with the knowledge you will be a reserve for now. Registration is also open for the Presidents Cup major competition at Black Mountain, Hua Hin on June 28 and 29th. There are 6 spaces available as I write.

Sign up on True Handicap as usual.

Hope to see you soon,
Regards,
Phil
