There was an excellent turn out of 39 players for the first Londoner competition of 2024 back at Floraville which was in good condition (although the tee boxes had gone missing mysteriously). As usual the magnetic lakes pulled many golf balls into them but some players managed to score excellently. There was a great atmosphere in the club house pre and post the round, maybe as everyone imagines how successful their golf season will be before reality has a chance to object. Without further ado let's get on to the results.
Rob Taylor, Club Champion, stormed to victory from the last group with 42 points. Congratulations Rob, seen here receiving his trophy, sleeve of Pro V1s and a lesson and 2 weeks of practice membership at the Golf Point Center.
Flight winners were Geoff Wright (C - 40 points), Ami Guilfoyle (B - 38 points) and John Comiskey (A - 39 points) and all prize winners plus the runners-up and technical prize winners are show in the table below:
The 2024 Team Competition started yesterday too and it was deja-vu all over again with the first event of the 2023 Team Comp as the Fireballs turned out in great numbers and produced excellent results to take 1st place and the 10 points on offer. Second were Dragons, third were Stingers and new 4 Aces captain, Craig Leamy, inspired the team in the same way as past captain, Simon Clegg, to 4th place. Here are Fireballs celebrating their win:
Next event is our annual match versus Wanderers on Sunday 21 January. The team of 20 is full but if you want to be a reserve just in case please sign up on True Handicap. After that we have our Pairs Away weekend on 27/28 January at Soi Dao. We have closed registration at 28 players as we need multiples of 4 for this event so if you would like to play and can accept you may not get in, please sign up on True Handicap too.
Regards and here's to a great 2024 when we will regularly celebrate the 25 year anniversary of the Londoners Golf Club,
