RESULTS - Scramble Competition at Vintage on Saturday 24 May 2025

A lovely day of Scramble golf yesterday at Vintage and we all got to feel like PGA pros as all bad shots were irrelevant and only great ones mattered. Yes, welcome to the world of Scramble golf - a bit like playing novice mode on a PlayStation; only much hotter. Terrific scores from our 9 groups (37 players) as every team scored under net 60 shots! There were more birdies than in an aviary and even some eagles. Bogies, double-bogies and worse were banished for the day as we all got to bask in team glory.

Prevailing at the end of it were the overjoyed 'Fun Four Raise More' team of Becky Adderley, Mark Adderley, Barbara Frank and Peter Frank. Net 52.7 - way to go!

Second place and much sorrow for a missed team putt on the last hole went to the 'Fab Four' of Ben Hemphill, Mike McMahon, David Morton and Scott Pontifex. Well done and don't let one late missed chance upset you for too long as there were likely other shots you could have done better on too! Net 53.2 for these stars.

Third place was taken by 0.1 of a shot - closer than an F1 qualifying session as 'Askus Anything' of Mark Foxwell, Stefan Kuhn, Jinbo Park and Rich White scored brilliantly as well - net 55.1 for them.

We welcomed three new members yesterday as well too! Hello to Mick McMahon, Boonkiat (BK) Tripsiri, and Suwat (Gop) Bunrod - great to have you join.
There were guests too from Korea - Bill Anderson and Kirk Rodgers - they brought very low handicaps with them and the team contributed an eagle - pitched in by Leigh Dahl from 50 yards! Also guesting again and hopefully joining were Simon Mee, Andy McWhirter and Ed Wilson - good to see you again!

Coming up - three Saturdays of Londoner events in a row. Saturday 14 June - a regular individual Stableford event at Subhapruek. Saturday 21 June - our annual match vs the Wanderers at Flora Ville (20 players needed in 10 pairs); Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June - our annual trip to Black Mountain in Hua Hin for the Presidents Cup (2 days of Stableford format). Registration is open now for all of these on True Handicap as usual.
