Our Club
The Club belongs to members, who seek to play competitive golf in an amicable environment, yet, “By the Book”. We are a non-profitable, golfing society, where good golfing fun is the number one objective of our events and a good score runs fun a close second; fortunately fun is much easier to achieve.
We are called The Londoner Golf Club as tangible recognition of the wonderful sponsorship, which we receive from our spiritual home, The Londoner Brew Pub, where throughout the year, we enjoy many evenings. Our Annual Party at the Pub is often cited as one of the most enjoyable events on our calendar!

Our Members
Our members vary in golfing ability and we are a very sociable group of people, are mainly foreigners (although many have been here for a decade or longer and are unlikely to leave) and some Thai people; all are equally welcome.

Our Events
We hold regular events, in which our members are welcome to join as often as they can / wish. Members’ guests and new members are also welcome to join us at these events, which are staged to enjoy the fun of a round of golf with like-minded souls. Although the majority of people do not know all (most?) of the Rules of Golf, we actively encourage development in this area.

Regular Events
There are events every second and fourth Saturday at Royal Lakeside and Bangpakong Riverside, respectively and we play either Stroke or Stableford. In the past few years the club has become very popular and we often have as many as 60 golfers at our events.

Regular Event Prizes & Trophies
At each of our regular events, we have up to 10 prizes, which usually consist of bottles of wine, whiskey and Londoner Brew Pub Vouchers. These are awarded to people, who win Technical Prizes (near pins, etc.). We do not have long drives, as these are generally won by a handful of people. At our events, you will not be awarded more than one technical prize, but you will be applauded for each achievement.
In addition, there are trophies for the overall event winners, plus those, who return the best score in each of the three flights: A (0-12), B (13-20) & C (21+).

Event Notices
These are sent usually 15-18 days before every event, by email, to everyone on our database. Those, who wish to play, reply to the email and in return, they receive an email confirmation.
Members are expected to sign up by noon on the Monday prior to the event, when we confirm members’ guests and new members, hence giving our members rightful (imho) first dibs.

Golf Groupings
With the exception of our, “majors”, [4-ball] golf groups are made up of golfers with mixed abilities. We do not believe in golfing elitism, but through our mixed groups, we do subscribe to an open and friendly atmosphere. If you want to play with the same three people at each event, you may be at the wrong club.
With an average turn out of 50+ golfers, there are always first and last groups, so we endeavour to move people up and down the running order, irrespective of their golfing abilities. We start simultaneously on tee boxes 1 & 10, so that all things being equal, our last groups will arrive at the Clubhouse at the same time. If you elect to play match play at one of our events, you will be in a late group by default.

Members’ Guests
Assuming that we have sufficient starting slots, members are welcome to invite guests to their events. Their guests will play with them and appropriately, are the responsibility of the inviting member for the day.

New members
We welcome new members, although we expect that you will already have some ability to play golf, have a grasp of the Rules, have played on golf courses before and understand golfing etiquette. All will be made welcome and handicaps are awarded to players, who can meet our criteria after three events.

Registration
When you arrive at the course for a Londoner Event, you are expected to register with our Duty Officer, who will alleviate you of a small match fee and will inform you of your group, starting tee and golf group members.

Our Committee
With such large turn-outs, the Club does not quite run itself, so we have a small team of golfing enthusiasts; some of whom play golf quite well to plan, prepare and manage our events. The committee team has the love and respect of the game in common and the enjoyment of our events by our members; we like to think that we are all very approachable, if you have suggestions or comments to make. You will find the names of our officers on another part of this site.

Your Responsibilities
As well as making sure that you and your group members have an enjoyable round of golf, each of us has additional responsibilities. They are:

  • Before you tee off, write your Name, Handicap & Date on your Scorecard and exchange cards with another member of your group (who becomes your playing partner)
  • Count your playing partner’s shots and record them on his score card
  • Always keep up with the group in front of you
  • Agree their score on each hole and record it on their scorecard, before you tee off on the next hole (or as you leave the green on the last). Write your own score for each hole, after having agreed the score with your playing partner
  • Total the number of shots for both nines and the eighteen-hole total
  • Sign your playing partner’s card as Marker; check and sign your own card as Player; ensure that your card is clear and legible.
  • Hand in your card before you shower, so that scoring can be completed without your physical presence.
  • If you are in the last group, pick up our pin markers on your back nine, bring them back to the Clubhouse and hand them in with your scores
  • Do not let caddies touch anyone’s line of putt, or give, “free” drops or rulings

Majors
We have two Majors each year; the Club Championship and The Past Captains Cup. Both of these are two, one-day events, with the Major Winner decided on their aggregate score for both days. Both Majors constitute a weekend away, where both accommodation and golf are arranged by the Club. The Club Championship has both a Ladies & Mens Champion.
Winners of a Major receive a replica of the Perpetual Trophy, on which their name is inscribed for posterity. The Perpetual Trophies are kept at The Londoner Brew Pub.

Annual competitions
Each year, we have a knock-out match-play between our members, for which the eventual winner receives a trophy.
For both of our regular courses, we have an eclectic competition, wherein we log every member’s best gross score on each hole. There are three flights (A, B & C) and the person from each of the three flights, with the lowest gross score at the end of our year, receives a trophy.

Challenge Events
Every year, we play against the British Club for the honour of holding the Hapag-Lloyd Cup for the ensuing twelve months
Annually, we vie for the AGS Four Winds Trophy against the Bulls Head, in which eating and drinking are the main events and golf is [almost] coincidental.

Honour Boards
In The Londoner Brew Pub, we have been given an area for our Honour Boards; they are updated every year (usually December) to add the names of our Major Winners, plus the Matchplay and Eclectic Winners.

Londoners Golf News

Captains-Corner and other news

Dear Members

Your committee held a meeting on the 22nd of June and I am writing to inform you and keep you updated on what your committee is working on at present.  We also welcome on board John Griffiths who has kindly volunteered to aid us in our endeavors

Meinhardt Cup 14 August

This Charity completion is held at Burapah and is a 3 way team event (Londoners, Lighthouse and Wanderers) within the next few weeks a sign up email will be sent.  For those players who normally would attend our Lakeside event, our monthly stableford will also be held, running in conjunction with the Meinhardt Cup, this means even more chances to go away with something than just a handicap cut

This year a new scoring system is in place, all cards will be handed in and placed into the 3 teams individual boxes. We will then draw out a card from each box for each hole and the side with the winning score will gain the point for that hole, we will tally up at the end which team has the accumulated the most points from the 18 holes played and so have a winning team for the event.

Hapag Lloyd 28 August

This event is to be hosted by the Londoner Golf Club this year and we are in discussion with the British club regarding this event, as well as making a booking for the dinner and prize giving.
More to follow soon.

Club Championships 13-14 November

The committee has selected Pattana, for this year’s club champs and set the date for 13 and 14 November.

Green Fees Thb 1,350 and a fantastic room rate of Thb 1,100 for a single room or Thb 1300 for a double, Cart fees are Thb 500.

At these prices and at this venue we are sure this will be a full house so ensure you get your qualifying games in during the year.

Quick Pack pair’s competition 27 November

The Quick Pack Pacific pair’s competition will be held at Subapruek this year and again as the time draws nearer we will update you with further information.

Qualifying games

After a long deliberation and fierce opposition regarding the above your committee has voted on the above and so have reduced the number of qualifying games to 8 with immediate effect. Games played up at Soi Dao and or previous Club Champs counts as 2 games each. It is well noted we want to see worthy champions taking away the silverware and golfers that we can say “yes we have seen them supporting nearly all of our functions” and so on this note we will reconsider this ruling during the next 1 -2 years.

Courses for next year

Every year we go through some extensive negotiations in regards to timings and prices at our events to enable you to get more golf for your money. This year is no exception, we will always look as Lakeside and Riverside as the two Londoner courses however we are in negotiation with the following courses; Lakewood, Royal Lad Krabang, Subhapruek, Kiarti Thani and Green Valley, watch this space

Sponsorship

We thank Augusto Romei, his family and Quick Pack Pacific for the generosity in sponsoring the runners up trophies at each of our events and I am sure when you get a chance you may mention so as well.  Eric Mallace of Jotun Paints who sponsors the Jotun 20/20, which is starting to bubble away nicely.

Arjan Buffing has come forward and kindly offered for his company Win-Win (Asia) Co. Ltd to sponsor a Masters completion to be played over 2 days. At this time we are considering end Jan for the 1st game and our 1st game in February to complete the event.

These sponsors offer the LGC a chance to ensure that our bigger events (Soi Dao, Club Champs and Christmas Dinner) that the costs are kept to a minimum where possible, and in regards to the Christmas Dinner remain free.

Lastly but not least 2 other members have agreed sponsorship of technical prizes, they will provide the prize and also choose the hole, in return they will get advertising on our website and obviously mentioned when we can, so look out for some new prizes at the coming events

Enjoy your golfing with us and please if you have any suggestions or comments, kindly approach any of us so as to help you and us to enjoy our golf and each other’s company.
